Privacy policy.
Rakho is a local-only Mac app. Your files never leave your machine, and we don't run analytics, telemetry, or tracking of any kind.
The short version
- Your files stay on your Mac. Every action — watching, queueing, moving, trashing — runs locally with macOS APIs. There is no cloud component.
- We collect nothing. No accounts, no analytics, no crash reporting, no IP logs. Rakho works without you ever telling us who you are.
- The optional AI features use your own API key. When you enable them, only file metadata (names, sizes, dates) is sent — never file contents — and it goes directly to OpenAI or Anthropic, not to us.
- You can wipe everything in one place. The Data & Privacy panel inside the app clears rules, the queue, the activity log, your AI key, and folder bookmarks — separately or together.
What Rakho stores on your Mac
The app keeps the following data in standard macOS user preferences (sandboxed to your account):
- The folders you've asked Rakho to watch, stored as security-scoped bookmarks.
- The rules you've created, including their conditions, action, and destination.
- The queue of pending matches, until you approve or dismiss each one.
- An activity log of recent actions, capped to a rolling window.
- Your AI provider key, if you've added one (stored in the macOS Keychain).
What Rakho sends over the network
By default, Rakho is fully offline. Network requests only happen when you opt in:
- AI suggestions. If you've added an OpenAI or Anthropic API key, asking for suggestions sends a short metadata snapshot — filenames, extensions, sizes, dates — directly to that provider over HTTPS. Their privacy policies apply.
- Update checks. Rakho may periodically check for a new release. The request includes only the current version string.
That's the entire list. There are no analytics endpoints, no error reporters, no third-party SDKs.
What we never do
- Read, transmit, or upload the contents of your files.
- Track which apps you use, which folders you open, or how often you launch Rakho.
- Sell, share, or rent any data — we don't have any to share.
- Embed third-party trackers, fingerprinters, or advertising SDKs.
Children's privacy
Rakho isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone — adults or otherwise.
Changes to this policy
If we update this policy, we'll post the new version on this page and update the "Last updated" date at the top. Material changes that affect what data is collected (currently: nothing) will be highlighted in the changelog.
